Senior Pastor

Bishop Charles W. Johnson Pastoral History

Miracle Temple Church of Faith was founded here in Indianapolis by Bishop W. Charles Johnson Sr. and his lovely wife Elect Lady Rochelle Johnson in 1999.  Bishop Johnson’s mother, who had five daughters, prayed and asked God for a son to preach the Word.

Early in 1999 Evangelist Joyce Cannon, now Apostle Joyce Cannon was walking in the spirit when she came upon Rochelle Johnson.  As she ministered to Rochelle, she recognized there was a calling on her husband Charles Johnson, who was yet developing his testimony in the streets.  Evangelist Cannon and “The Grace Family Choir” started the first church service in Bishop Johnson's home at 1822 Koehne Street where he lived as a child.  Their singing, praying, teaching, and preaching grew, helping them to get closer to the Lord.  Many thanks go to Apostle Cannon for her persistent prayers and guidance in confirming Bishop Johnson's calling in the Lord.  God put a calling on the couple to serve the people of God, and they have answered the call.

Pastor Johnson began with the help of God to work in the wilderness preaching, teaching, and reading the scriptures to the lost, letting them know there is a True and Living God who can save, heal, deliver, and make whole.  The Outreach Ministry began to flourish helping to meet the needs of God’s people with a special focus on the homeless.

The start of his ministry continued at 1822 Koehne for several months. At that time, he attended Cathedral of Praise under the leadership of Bishop Eger Allen Jr., in the years 2000 to 2003, when another door opened at 620 East Street at the Brick Layers Building downtown.  On Sunday, May 21, 2006, family and friends joined together for Pastor Johnson's Ordination service  Starting out Pastor Johnson had two dedicated members, his wife Elect Lady Rochelle Johnson and his sister Evangelist, Denise Johnson.  On Sunday, May 21st, 2006, family and friends joined together for Pastor Johnson’s Ordination Service.

Later that year Pastor Paul Hooks of Emmanuel Freewill Baptist Church opened his doors to Pastor Johnson and Miracle Temple Church of Faith to hold night services at 911 Edgemont Street.

In 2007,  Pastor Johnson was blessed with a building at 1901 W. 15th Street where he was welcome to come and go as he pleased, to worship, praise, and glorify God night and day.  As he continued to serve, God opened another door for him from Bishop Lawrence Owens, and he received his Suffragan Bishop license.  Then on February 14, 2012, Bishop Joyce A. Cannon, now Apostle Joyce Cannon, licensed him as International Bishop Charles W. Johnson.

From that time, until this day, the Miracle Temple Church of Faith family has moved into our new church home located at, 6401 Westhaven Drive in Indianapolis, Indiana, led by Bishop Charles W. Johnson, Sr.  Through much prayer, fasting, and perseverance, we're still standing, growing, and building the place: “Where We Expect the Miracles” that God has ordained.

May the Blood of Jesus continue to cover Bishop Johnson on his daily walk with Jesus.
